As part of the drive to cut down on UK Credit Card identify Fruad, many of the big UK credit card companies are now offering free, detailed advice on how to reduce the risk of having your identity stolen.

Morgan Stanley are offering this advice with all of their credit cards. Snippets of advice include:

• Never give your credit card details to cold callers
• Be sure to shred all credit card statements
• Protect your PIN and never write down your PIN number

Other good indentity theft prevention advice includes checking your credit card statements each month and even going so far as to write “Please ask for Visual ID” on the Signature strip of the Credit Card; the owner of the card woudl then present their passport of full drivers licence to prove that the credit card was theirs.
